CluB officials reported sponsors have been found for all of this year's night races, although additional sponsors still are being sought for the end of the season Gold Rush races and for individual drivers. For more information about NNMSA persons can phone club secretary Linda Foster at 738-8810. Summit Elko race track Elko's Summit Raceway begins its 1994 auto season Saturday with its second annual Mac McMorrow Tribute Race. The races are held by the Northern Nevada Motor Sports Association.

Summit, a quarter-mile dirt track raceway, is located just south of Elko off the Lamoille Highway. Time trials begin at 1 pjn. with racing to start at 3. Trophy dashes, heat races and main event races will be held in each of Summit's four car classes pure stock, mini stock, stock car and sportsman. In addition, a special pure stock race with a revolving trophy will be held in McMorrow's honor.

He was a founding member of NNMSA, an avid pure stock owner and the club's vice president when he suffered a fatal heart attack two years ago. Kent Pyle of Battle Mountain won last year's inaugural McMorrow race, and will be back to defend his title. I I I 1 4A' 1 i 1 1 ij p. p3 i (jfi. Wijr.) Elko's NNMSA, which begins racing tomorrow, sold $3,300 in race tickets to Dale White Motors in a sales promotion.

ECDRA has postponed races planned by the club May 21-22 in Battle Mountain. The club will hold a Night Super-X race on June 15. Signups begin at 530 p.nu, practice at 650 and the race is at 7. Racing fees are $15 ($10 for peewees) for members, and $20 ($15 for peewees) for non-members.

Club members competed April 30 and May 1 in the second leg of the Wild West Series in Boise, Idaho. Among those placing were Tony Still (1st in the 30 and older division), Tony Morfin (2nd and 3rd, 60cc), John Jensen (6th, 125cc novice), Ty Carson (2nd, 125cc novice), Jimmy Algerio (3rd, 125cc novice), Chris Strong (2nd, 25 and older and 9th, 25cc pro), Russell Boyd (10th, 125cc novice), Jeff Carson (1st, 40 and older) and Christopher DeNeef Cariin races this weekend Carlin's Gold Rush Motocross Park will hold regular races tomorrow and Sunday. Both days' race schedule calls for gates to open at 7:30 a.m. with signups at 8, practice at 9 and racing at 10. Admission is $5 for persons 12 and older, $3 for ages 6-11 and senior citizens and free for those younger than 6.

Braves 13, Phillies 5 Rusty Torell and Chris McGhee pitched for the Braves; Kirk Shepard, Brian Hill, Joaquin Hernandez and Mitch Law-son pitched for the Phillies.

Braves: Torell had two hits and Matt Cra-craft, Billy Mangum and Ryan Still had one each. Phillies: Mike Oster had three hits and Joe Hickey, Derrick Gibson, Jack Hastings, Shepard and Lawson had one each. The event will be held in the vicinity of Big Orv's Playground and a poker run is scheduled for 10 a.m. Horseshoes and barbecuing will begin at noon.

Spartans play at Yerington With two last shots at its first conference win, Spring Creek High School's baseball team treks to Yerington on Saturday for its final dou-bleheader of the regular season. The Nevada AA League series is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. The Spartans' young team, 5-15 (0-8 conference), is trying to snap a 10-game skid since beating Virginia City on April 8. The team has been hampered by an all-FroshSoph roster as well as no home field to practice on.

On May 13-14, the Spartans compete in the central division playoffs, which are held to qualify for the state tournament. As a team, Spring Creek is batting .283. The pitching staff has an earned run average of 5.92. Probable starters for Spring Creek on Saturday will be sophomore Mi-cah Kraintz (1-6, 5.16 ERA) pitching, sophomore Josh Bottari (.189) catching, freshman Mike Ross (.488) at first base, sophomore Keith Demaline (.368) at second, sophomore Mike Ostrander (.450, 2 HRs) at shortstop, freshman Andy Upton (.218) at third, freshman Jake Tybo (.269) in left field, sophomore Jim Chantrill (.125) in center and freshman Erin Hall (.250) in right.
