A colorful and personable person, many visitors to the museum made return stops just to talk with her again. She made the first contact with Jack Wannamaker, the donor of the exhibit animals and the museum's Wannamaker Wildlife Wing, when he was visiting Elko from southern California. While living in northern California she was a licensed fishing boat captain out of Eureka and in Toledo, she served as a justice of the peace.

She also worked as a weighmaster in Oregon. In Salt Lake City she had her own talk show on radio KSXJ. She is survived by, two daughters, Claudia Sue Marthaller of Sajem, Ore. and Catherine Lee Thompson of Munich, N.D.; son Charies S. Caglc of Salem; fiance" Gil States of Elko; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service, officiated by Father Frank Cowell, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 777 Sage St. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Northeastern Nevada Museum, 1515 Idaho Elko NV 89801. Telephone, 738-3418.

150 New Highs New Lows New Highs New Lows 26 33 10 176,682,050 Saturday 1,549,189,600 Volume program Volume 1,551,206,570 Volume Stocks of Local Interest ELKO Elko County Sheriff deputies will be patrolling county-wide Saturday during their search for motorists driving under the influence. The program focuses on the cities of Carlin, Jackpot, Wells, Mountain City and Elko. While making routine stops for traffic violations, deputies will be checking to see if drivers have been drinking. Detection clues for spotting impaired drivers include: Illegal turns, inappropriate stopping, drifting across travel lane and straddling the center or lane marker. The federally funded program is designed to remind people not to drink and drive.

The program takes place every other month. The only expense to taxpayers is paid overtime hours. Pete later attended two years at BSU, where he studied French and Spanish. Pete was a musician, playing all over Nevada and Idaho with dance bands and being the lead singer in them.

Pete was proud of his military service. He served four years in Europe at the height of the war and arrived at the Battle of the Bulge as it ended. He came to Mountain Home after the war, where he married Arlyss Carlberg-Rypkema in 1949. They spent 43 years together on their little farm north of the city. From this union they had a daughter and son, Pete worked for the U.S.

Postal Service on base and in town for 25 years, retiring in 1979. After the passing of his wife in 1987, he married Lois Oyarzabal in 1989 and they spent their retirement years traveling and just having fun. Pete was a 57-year member of the American Legion Post 26, Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Mountain Home Senior Center, Senior Echo Band, Idaho Old Timer Fiddlers, Basque Clubs, Euskal Laganck of Mountain Home, Euzkeldunak of Boise. Pete is survived by his wife of 13 years daughter Margaret Rule and husband John; granddaughters Krista and Bfccky Rule, all of Nampa, Idaho; stepson Terry Rypkema and wife Jody of Flagstaff, seven grandchildren; and 19 greatgrandchildren.
