She was born Nov.

19, 1927, in Elko, the third of 13 children. In 1946, she met her husband, Vincil H. Howerton, they married in Reno and spent their honeymoon at Lake Tahoe. Their son, Wayne was born in Elko and they moved to California in 1950. Two daughters, Valerie Rose and Victoria Lynn were born in 1955 and 1958.

Dorthy enjoyed her family, world traveling and spending time in their beautiful Maui home. In 1971, Dorthy and Vince co-founded Columbia Mechanical Contractors Inc. located in San Francisco. Dorthy served as president of the company for 30 years and only recently resigned due to her battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Vince; son Wayne (Beverly) Howerton; daughters Valerie (Joe) Miller and Victoria (Kim Anthony) Gardner, grandchildren Heather, Ivy, Beri, Violet, Jared, Krystal and Aaron; great-grandchildren Patrick, Christian and Zackary; and a very large and close extended family.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Menlo Park.
