On Oct 14, Bynum escaped from the Carlin Conservation Camp while serving a sentence for burglary committed in Clark County in the Eighth Judicial District. Troopers said Mclntyre was east-bound in the outside travel lane when he apparently fell asleep behind the wheel and his pickup drifted to the north and crossed the inside travel lane into the median. Mclntyre awoke and overcorrected to the south, then overcorrected again to the north, and his pickup overturned once before coming to rest on its wheels facing south in the median. The gala affair, attended by about 250 friends and fans, celebrated the 36 years the group has entertained Elko. Their sister, Vera Leary, also was honored during the dinner celebration which featured yet another performance by Elko's longest running and best known acts. The show opened with a special song performed by Leary in remembrance of the late brothers and band members Walt and Gene Matys.

As testament to the group's love for performing, band members played numbers for the duration of the celebration, and only after it ended did they realize they forgot to eat at their own party. John Matys called the tribute "about the nicest and greatest thingvthat's ever happened" to the Matys. He held a poster-sized photograph of the brothers signed by all who attended the banquet, while his brother displayed an official proclamation by Gov. Bob Miller declaring Jan. 15, 1995 "A Day in Honor of The Matys Brothers: 36 Years of Outstanding Entertainment." When the van reached Silver Street Fagg kicked the driver, Turn-bull, in the right side of his head, nearly causing an accident with another vehicle, according to reports. Turnbull then told Fagg to desist since his violence would only make matters worse than they already were. But Fagg kicked the officer in the head again, reports state.

Officers said Turnbull managed to control Fagg's legs and Weaver restrained his upper body until they reached the jail. Reports state Fagg also was uncooperative and abusive toward the jailers. Two Elko police officers were treated and released from Elko General Hospital's emergency room last night after a domestic violence suspect bit one of the officers on the hand and twice kicked the other officer in the head, city police reported. Fagg, 31, of Elko was arrested by Elko police officers at 6:10 p.m. last night in the 200 block of River Street and charged with three counts of battery while in custody, resisting a police officer, domestic violence, disturbing the peace and damage to a prison or jail. EPD reports state officers David Turnbull and Ray Weaver were dispatched to a mobile home shortly before 6 p.m. last night on a report of domestic violence. Upon arrival, they separated Fagg from a female that was living at the residence.

Officers said the female had bruises on her right shoulder and her face and neck were red. They also observed a potted plant picture frames and other items had been broken and were scattered across the floor. Reports state Turnbull took the female to the back of the mobile home, but then Fagg pushed Weaver and attempted to get access to the rear of the trailer by climbing over a sofa. Johnson, 27, of North Las Vegas was arrested by Elko police officers at 5:50 a.m. yesterday in the 400 block of Railroad Street on a warrant out of Clark County at the request of the North Las Vegas Police Department charging possession of a controlled substance. Elko Police Department reports state that a security guard at the Commercial Casino and Hotel, 325 Fourth St, reported to officers that that the woman had told a patron that she was from Las Vegas and was trying to get home. The guard said that when she was told to contact the Friends in Service Helping (FISH) office for assistance, she said she could not because there was a warrant for her arrest in Las Vegas. The security guard pointed Johnson out to a city police officer, who contacted her and asked if there was a warrant out for her arrest Reports state Johnson replied, "I think so." Police said a computer check confirmed the warrant Bail: $2,000.

Taylor, 20, of Osino was arrested at his residence at 9:15 a.m. yesterday by Elko County Sheriffs deputies and charged with possessing and receiving stolen property.
