Deichler, 40, of Elko was arrested by an Elko County Sheriffs deputy at 11:40 p.m. yesterday at his 100 block of Bullion Road residence on an Elko Justice Court warrant charging failure to appear for trial on charges of three counts of battery and one count of injury to property. Bail: $2,000.

Amy B. Workman, 31, of Taylors-ville, Utah, was arrested by an Elko deputy at 1:15 p.m. yesterday at Elko District Court Aug. 3 Delisa Rene Hodges, 33, of South Jordan, Utah, was sentenced by Elko District Judge Jack Ames to 90 days of house arrest placed on five years Horizon Hospice Bereavement Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at St Paul's Episcopal Church, 777 Sage St.

Gerald Foy and Amanda Fawson of Elko are the parents of a son born at 8:57 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at Elko General Hospital. He weighed six pounds and measured 19 inches. Paul and Blanca Sheridan of Carlin are the parents of a son born at 12:12 p.m.

GBC is offering more than 370 classes on its main campus this fall as well as a number of classes at its off-campus educational centers in Ely, Winnemucca, Battle Mountain, Eureka, Wells, McDermitt, Owyhee, Jackpot and Wendover.

Students may register for fall classes by telephone by calling 753-2100 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, noon to 10 p.m. Saturdays, and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays.

Walk-in registration will begin Aug. 17. A complete listing of GBC's fall classes is available at the Student Services Office in GBC's Berg Hall at 1500 College Parkway or by calling the office at 753-2102. Students may get their identification cards between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Mondays through Fridays at the college switchboard in Berg Hall. The GBC Bookstore has expanded its hours to help students get ready for fall classes. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Aug.

19 and Aug. 26. The bookstore will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug.

Traffic accidents Great Basin College continues to grow and improvements are being made on the main campus in Elko as well as several of GBC's off-campus sites, according to a GBC news release. GBC's Ely campus is getting a addition that will house administrative offices, vocational shops and additional parking.

GBC's Winnemucca site will finish landscaping projects this summer and plans are in the works to expand the facility. Several projects are under way on the Elko campus. Berg and McMullen Halls are both undergoing renovations, which are expected to be completed next summer. The $2 million project includes expansion of GBC's Learning Resource Center, doubling the stack space for books, tripling student work space and adding more computer stations, Also included in the plans are two studytraining rooms as well as computer access ports for students with laptops. "The end results of this enhancement will far exceed the limitations this next year," said GBC Reference Librarian Gary Avent in the news release.

GBC's Associated Student Body, Foundation, administration and faculty have worked together to accommodate student needs for quiet study space during the transition. "Students will be able to use the quiet room in the Community Center during the day for studying, and in the evenings the cafeteria and Social Room will be open for studying and group work," said Mara Van de Ven, ASB adviser and student development specialist GBC's Learning Resource Center has temporarily relocated to the old Builder's Mart building at 1031 Rail AQHA Ride equine The sound of horse hoofs and the excitement of trail ready riders are set to invade the Ponderosa Ranch in Incline Village, Saturday, Aug. 22, as the Nevada affiliate of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) hosts RIDE '98. One stop on a nationwide series of charity trail rides sponsored by the AQHA and GMC Sierra. RIDE "98 celebrates the joys of horseback riding, inviting riders of all disciplines and experience to saddle up.

Ranging from day rides to weekend-long trail experiences, RIDE '98 spans nearly 50 locations in the United States, Canada, Brazil and Germany through Oct. 31. The Nevada ride on the 600-acre Ponderosa Ranch will tour trails in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and lower meadows. A continental breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the ride scheduled to depart at 9:30 a.m. Scenic Lake Tahoe will be visible throughout much of the 214 -hour ride.

Along the way riders will be entertained with the tall tales and cowboy poetry of Larry Maurice, before returning to the main area at noon for a western style barbecue. Bail: $1,185. probation, fined $2,000 and ordered to have no contact with her co-defendant for her guilty plea to uttering a forged instrument. Hodges was arrested Jan.

A Nevada Youth Training Center crew is fighting a three-acre fire in the Independence Mountains northwest of Lone Mountain Station started Sunday by lightning. Containment of the fire was unknown, according to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. A weekend fire near the Mary's River remains in monitor status as firefighting crews are checking for flare-ups. Survivors include sons, James Cale Johnson of Portland, Rodney Cale Johnson of Carson City and Thomas Cale Johnson of Elko; daughter, Caima Carlson of Carson City; sister, Edna Michels of Murray, Utah; brother, Ted Hockett of Salt Lake City; 18 grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Margery Clapton, in January 1990, six brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Larkin Mortuary in Salt Lake City. Burial will follow in Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah.

William Martin dies at 76 William Baird Martin, a former resident of Elko, died Friday in Utah at age 76. He was born Jan. 24, 1922, in Og-den, Utah, and had graduated from Elko High School in 1940. He attended Utah State University and later graduated form the Idaho State School of Pharmacy. He operated Garfield Drug, Martin Drug and Pharmacy.

He later entered the banking field and became vice president of Tracy Collins Bank and Washington Savings Bank. He married Jeanne Allen on July 3, 1943, in San Diego. He was a veteran of World War II and had been active in community affairs. He retired from the Army Reserve with a rank of lieutenant colonel. He was active in the LDS Church, serving in several positions." He served as Mission President, of the Ireland Dublin Mission from 1989-1992.

Funeral services were scheduled for today in Utah. Grace Meta Johnson, a former resi dent of Elko, died Sunday at Carson-Tahoe Hospital at age 83. She had lived in Carson City for a year, coming from Elko. She was born March 25, 1915, in North Salt Lake City to James and Ameta Othelia Kaphengst Nelson. She married Cale Johnson Nov.
